“A Classic Tale of Law & Order Versus Intimidation & Violence in the Old West”
Welcome to the Wild West, 1890. Ransome Foster, a scholar from New York City, first arrives to the town of Twotrees bloody, beaten and left for dead. Yet after a quick recovery and a promise to a young woman to help her learn to read, Foster begins to change the small town through love & education, eventually calling it home.
This catches the attention of Liberty Valance, an outlaw who seeks to restore his view of “the norms of society” through terror and bloodshed. Suddenly, Foster finds himself on a collision course with the experienced gunman forcing him to make a choice: to run or to stand up for what he believes in, to live or to fight for what is right…
Please join the Sunriver Stars for this classic tale of good versus evil, of law & order versus intimidation & violence, of one man versus Liberty Valance.

Cast
Ransome Foster
A young scholar from the East Coast. His school and influence in the town of Twotrees drives the rivalry with Liberty Valance to the breaking point, culminating in a climactic showdown.
Hallie Jackson
A young proprietor of the Prairie Belle Saloon. Her conflict between the safety of the familiar and the desire for the novel is mirrored in her love for both Ransome and Bert.
Bert Barricune
A cowboy and gunslinger, and Twotrees’ only protection from Liberty Valance. Bert’s love for Hallie proves to be his greatest sacrifice as he struggles to protect the town and life he loves.
Jim ‘The Reverend’ Mosten
A young black man working at the Prairie Belle Saloon. Taken in by Hallie’s family, Jim plays a critical role in Ransome’s mission in Twotrees and his quest for vengeance.
Liberty Valance
An outlaw and leader of a gang. The lawless land of the west sets the stage for Liberty’s opportunity, staking his fortune and bleeding Twotrees of its value before the rest of society catches up.
Marshal Johnson
The local authority in Twotrees. Marshal Johnson’s title carries little weight against Valance and serves only to remind the town of the true forces of power.
Jake Dowitt
A young reporter for the Twotrees local newspaper.
The Narrator
The play’s mysterious central voice.
The Gang
A few of Liberty’s outlaws.
Townsfolk
The everyday people living in Twotrees.
