The mission of the Sunriver Stars Community Theater as an all-volunteer, 501 (c )(3) non-profit, community-based performing arts organization is to provide quality, suitable for all ages entertainment and education opportunities with live theater for residents of Sunriver, Oregon, and the surrounding communities.
We offer a completely free summer camp to all students in grades K through 8 in Sunriver and La Pine schools and also home-schooled children. In 2025 this will be our 7th year doing this program. The program will be an intensive one-week course after school during the summer vacation. Classes run 4-5 hours depending on the child’s age and role(s) assigned. One goal is growth in a child’s level of personal confidence and moral character development. Character Training taught along with Stage Craft. Stage craft includes vocal lessons in public speaking, projection, and singing. Also taught in all phases of acting: projecting a character, dialogue, accent, gestures, and movement. Students learn that a cast is just like a team, and everyone needs to play their part for the “team” to win (which is to wow their audience.) In June 2024 we had 70 students participate, the most ever.
