Meet our Camp Leaders
Victoria Kristy
Artistic Director and Founder of the Sunriver Stars Community Theater, Victoria will take on the role of Creative Director of this year’s Kids Drama Camp. She has a background as an educator, having taught kindergarten and art at the elementary school level for 25 years. Victoria has been directing theatre since 1970 and can hardly wait to share the magic of performing with the children enrolled in our program this summer!
Janet Grant
This is the fourth Stars Kids Camp Janet Grant has been involved with, this year taking on the role of Managing Director. Her four children love being on stage and telling stories through song, dance and acting. Janet’s stage experience dates back to her youth, but her background in marketing and events led her to assist with their first camp, and naturally take on larger roles each year since. She is excited to “join the circus” and see what magic Director Victoria and the team bring to the camp this year!
Jillian Eckman
Jillian Eckman is a recent college graduate in theatre studies with a minor in creative media and film. Jillian is most interested in directing and is beyond excited to be joining the Stars Kids Drama Camp team to help bring ideas to life. Jillian will be bringing their best advice to help camp goers write, create, and show off their incredible work and talent. Jillian is excited to get started and see what fun spins they can take on this year’s camp theme through writing!
Tom Hansen
Tom Hansen was raised in southern Minnesota and graduated from UW Stout with a degree in Industrial Arts Education and a minor in Safety. Tom began working in the Cable TV industry during college and moved from the boondocks of Chicago to Newport, Oregon to continue his career. While in Newport, Tom volunteered for the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival, where he met his wife Robyn, and began serving as the Chairman in 1991. His community service expanded onto the Newport Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Committee, Porthole Players LTD, and Oregon Coast Counsel for the Arts, which he was also chairman. During that time, Tom worked in technical positions of local theater performances. After 35 years on the Oregon Coast, Tom moved to the Three Rivers area in 2017. Within a year of moving, Tom was involved in a play for the Sunriver Stars and has worked on lights and sound for every play since.
Sign ups will begin in spring 2024… come back soon for updates!

Past Camps
The Sunriver Stars Community Theater KIDS Drama Camp presented “Willy Wonka, Jr. – A Musical Revue,” a student showcase featuring local young people in a fun, innovative production which included live-action along with performances previously recorded and merged into a video. The student showcase wrapped up a 10-week program of education in the performing arts sponsored by the Sunriver-La Pine Rotary Club and The DOOR church in Sunriver. The video is available on the Stars’ YouTube channel.
